Holiday Inn Rome- Eur Parco Dei Medici by IHG

The room was large but noisy and old, and the staff were a real mix: some very rude, others lovely. At least the air conditioning worked, which helped me sleep along with the good earplugs I brought. The pasta at the restaurant was edible, but it gets so busy that getting a table can mean a long wait. Breakfast was mostly beige food and tinned fruit. Anything fresh was gone by 6:40, just ten minutes after it opened. I couldn’t use the gym either: after finding it and getting past the rude receptionists, I discovered its air conditioning was broken. This felt like a coach holiday stopover in the middle of nowhere. I don’t have much good to say about the hotel.

The rooms were nice and everything was very clean, though the hotel feels a little dated. There’s a great bar and a good atmosphere, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Train links into central Rome are good, but download the app beforehand if you need to buy a ticket. The pickup service was reliable, and I loved the bathtub in my room. There wasn’t a safe, though. I’d stay again.

The hotel’s chic, modern lobby and green, peaceful pool terrace stood out. The staff were friendly and helpful, and there’s plenty of parking, a shuttle between FCO airport and the hotel, plus a business center and meeting rooms. I could weigh my luggage for 1 EUR, which helps avoid an overweight bag fee at the airport. It was a relaxing business trip, with a good location and easy train and subway access. On weekdays, the Colosseum is about 30 minutes away. Breakfast was on par with a standard 4-star hotel, and the à la Carte menu was fantastic. My executive room was clean and spacious.

The hotel is a bit out of the way, with no supermarket or pharmacy nearby. You can pay to take the shuttle bus into the city, or walk about 10 minutes to Muratella train station; the trip into town takes roughly 50 minutes. The room was large and clean, with strong Wi-Fi, a good shower, a boiler, mini fridge, and toiletries. Breakfast was excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
