Kennedy Hotel

We enjoyed our stay, and the hotel is just a two-minute walk from Termini station, close to the main attractions in central Rome. The shower was really cramped, and there weren’t any facilities for making hot drinks in the room.

The rooms are clean, and the staff are really friendly and lovely. Breakfast is pastries, yoghurt, and things like that. Roma Termini is right there, where the airport bus drops you off, so it’s perfect for getting in. You can walk to the Colosseum in about 20 minutes, Trevi Fountain in about 20 minutes, and Vatican City in around 50. There are plenty of places to eat, but we recommend the indoor Market by the the Roma Termini. Great value, with lots of good food to choose from!

The hotel was very close to the train station, with restaurants on the same street, and the night staff were friendly. But our room had bugs, floor stains, and mold in the bathroom. We told the front desk, and they offered a different room. We checked it first, but it smelled strongly of mildew, the air conditioner was leaking into a plastic container, and there was mold or mildew and an opening in the ceiling near what looked like a vent. A third room had a strong stench too. We asked for the manager and were told they’d be there in the morning. We also asked for bug spray and a broom, but got disinfectant spray instead. Since it was late, we’d booked online and couldn’t cancel without losing our money, the room with bugs seemed like the best option. We killed the bugs, sprayed and wiped everything down, then went to dinner. When we got back, there was another bug. The next day we raised the issues with the daytime staff and asked again to see the manager, but were told they weren’t there. Staff offered to clean the room while we were out. When we returned, the beds were made, but the floor still had spots and the bathroom looked untouched apart from fresh towels. We knew the rooms would be small and simple, but expected cleanliness and friendly service from everyone. We couldn’t check out fast enough. Avoid this hotel.

The room was surprisingly quiet and the bed was good. After a recent stay at a nearby four-star hotel, I’d give Hotel Kennedy an extra star by comparison. There’s no tea or coffee in the room, but there is a vending machine on the ground floor, along with a nice Chesterfield lounge. Breakfast was okay, and the Cappuccino was superb. No plastic shower or funny clothes hangers. No gym.
