We parked our rental at Tronchetto Garage, and the hotel arranged for a water taxi pickup. With the water taxi right outside the steps, getting to St. Mark’s Square or catching a vaporetto to Murano and Burano was easy. There were plenty of good restaurants and shops within walking distance. We were new to Venice, and this was an ideal base. Hotel Principe is perfectly located. We took a water taxi straight to the hotel and were impressed right away. The staff were friendly, and breakfast was excellent each morning, with both American and Italian options. Our room had high ceilings, plenty of room for my mom and me, and a balcony that was worth it. We loved watching boats pass on the Grand Canal.

I stayed for three nights in September 2025. The location is the only reason I’d give it 1 out of 100. Water came out in just a thin trickle, and they left all the trash in the room and toilet during our stay. The bathroom smelled like a rubbish-filled drain or a toilet that hadn’t been cleaned in a hundred years. Think a million times before deciding.

The only real problem was leaving at 6 a.m. There was no receptionist, and we waited about 15 minutes without anyone showing up. We had a plane to catch, so we left the keys on the desk. There should always be someone at the front desk. The location is perfect, convenient for Termini station and even walkable to some tourist spots. Our room was clean and cozy, and the morning receptionist was very accommodating and helpful.

The staff were very friendly and accommodating, and the hotel was clean. They cleaned the room during our stay, and having a coffee machine was very convenient. The location made for an amazing stay, close to the station and all the attractions. I’d recommend staying here when visiting Rome.

They charge an extra city tax that isn’t mentioned in the booking. This is a 1-2 star hotel, but they charge 6 euros per person per night, like a 3-star hotel.
