The breakfast was a very Italian-style setup: each morning we got a voucher for the café across the street, for a cornetto and a drink. The choices included espresso, cappuccino, or water, with juice available for a little extra. The café staff were lovely, and their pastries were so good we usually ended up ordering something besides the cornetto. They also had great gelato. Our room had all the useful basics, including AC, heating, shower gel and shampoo, a hairdryer, extra blankets, a small TV, plenty of sockets, bedside lamps, a table and chairs, and blinds to keep out the early morning sun. Since the room is in an apartment, we shared a kitchen with the other two rooms. It had a microwave, fridge, and cutlery, as far as we could tell. We were asked how often we wanted room cleaning, from daily to every few days, and towels were changed every two days. Gianluca was a wonderful host. There’s a €35 tourist tax to pay in cash on arrival, though he kindly let us pay the next morning since we had to get cash from an ATM nearby. We could also reach him on WhatsApp, which helped us coordinate room cleaning and get help when we couldn’t open the main door. It’s about a 10-minute walk to Trastevere station. The city center is a bit far to walk, but there’s a €1 train to the heart of Rome at Termini Station. The neighborhood isn’t very touristy, which meant we found great restaurants without tourist prices, though a little Italian helps when talking with locals. We had a great five-day stay, and if we’re back in Rome, we’ll stay here again.
