La Dolce Vita by Via Veneto 2BR Apt

The room was a mess. Staff came in every day but didn't clean it, change the sheets or towels, or properly clean the bathroom. The worst part was being asked for an extra €60 for our stay as a tax, without being given a receipt. We're solicitors and looked into it. We found they weren't allowed to charge it, since everything is included in the price you pay. Future guests, be careful not to pay €6 per person per day as a tax.

We waited two hours for anyone to welcome us. The owner wasn't there and sent someone who didn't even work at the place, and that person charged the wrong amount for the city tax. The room was dirty, the shower was full of damp, and a socket was hanging loose in the bathroom. When we left early, the owner refused to refund the nights we hadn't slept there. The worst place I've ever stayed.

No blanket, and just one pillow for two people. The staff were rude, especially the man who sent us away from the hotel in the middle of the night for no reason.

We booked based on the double-room photo on the website, but on arrival they gave us a much lower-quality room that didn't match what we'd booked. It had, for example, folding plastic chairs. When we raised this at check-in, they said the website didn't show every room type and that they assign whatever is available when guests arrive. We asked to exchange rooms or get a refund, but they made no effort to sort it out and said we had to accept what we'd been given, with no refund. We stayed one night and checked out the following morning. Their way of handling the complaint was just as unhelpful. Our experience with La Dolce Vita Rome felt misleading and unfriendly, with poor guest service. We don't want anyone else to be treated this way. Think twice, or even three times, before booking.
