La Pigna Boutique Apartment

The final day brought the worst incident: burglars broke in and took electronics, valuables, and cash. The manager didn’t call the police or accept responsibility. Instead, he asked us to falsify our check-in date because he hadn’t registered us with the authorities. Security was practically nonexistent, with an easy-to-access gate and a flimsy wooden door. We had mice soon after arriving. Traps were left outside the door, but the problem continued. The bathrooms were also a mess, with clogged drains, standing water, and unsafe steps up to one shower. The apartment, “La Pigna Boutique Apartment” at Piazza della Pigna 53, Rome, was nothing like a boutique place. It was a dingy ground-floor open space with no sunlight, mold, filth, and heating that didn’t work. Kitchen appliances were unusable, the floor was dangerously damaged, and poorly placed glass walls offered no privacy. The manager said he had no insurance and offered to move us to another unit, but at our expense. The whole stay was unsafe, unhygienic, and unacceptable.

The location was good and the bed was okay, but those two things weren’t enough to make this property worth staying in. It isn’t luxury or boutique as advertised, and the apartment didn’t look like the pictures. In November it was cold and damp. There were towels over the windows instead of curtains, which was unbelievable when regular curtains aren’t that expensive. There was mold in the bathroom, the towels were worn and torn, and the shower head didn’t work properly, so it was like not having a shower. I asked the owner to sort it out, but got no reply and ended up buying a new one myself. There was also no coffee machine, despite the Booking description. The owner was quick to contact me when he wanted my payment for Roma city tax. When I asked for a bill, he ignored me, and still is. Scammers! I really don’t recommend this place 🙏🏼

They advertise a two-bathroom apartment, but there’s actually one bathroom and two toilet rooms. You can’t access the garden outside either. Mould on the windows and in the bathroom, hardly any kitchen amenities, and very poor lighting made it a horrible place. When I raised these problems with the host, I was ignored. Avoid this place at all cost. It’s a pure scam, rubbish and horrible. I’d give it zero stars if I could, but had to leave one to post a review.

The staff didn’t do anything after we wrote to them. One mattress was broken, and the air conditioner started but then didn’t work. The ground-floor flat was basically one living room, with no separate rooms or privacy. The two double beds faced each other. The apartment and beds were damp, and everything else was a disaster.
