We'd confirmed the booking and check-in time with the owner by email a couple of days before our trip, but when we arrived, no one opened the door. Once we finally got inside, a cleaner phoned the owner and was told our booking had been cancelled for no reason. The owner didn't come, but sent another staff member who also said our room wasn't available and gave no explanation. They said they'd find us another place within half an hour and that Expedia would text a new confirmation, but we waited an hour with no news. Nothing about any reservation arrived later that day either. The worst part was being told we had nowhere to stay only after we were already at reception, with no warning. There was also a clear language barrier, and they couldn't understand what we were saying. A horrible experience, a total disaster.

Rome's history is best seen on foot, and this place is well located for exploring. Great restaurants, the sports stadium, and all the historic sights are close by, around 5 km in either direction. It's not just about appearances or what you get inside.

The staff were super helpful, but there were a few little problems in the room. The shower support was in terrible shape, the towel rack kept coming loose, and there was hardly any cold water. The TV was tiny, and there wasn't much privacy.

The breakfast was filling and good, with juice, fruit, yogurt, pies, jam, croissants, bread, cheese, butter, and cereal. There are two rooms sharing one bathroom between four people; the other two have private bathrooms but look out onto the courtyard. I'd choose a room with a road view. It's a bit louder, but the view is nicer.
