LH Hotel Lloyd Rome

The hotel felt outdated and poorly maintained, and the rooms were very old. The toilet wouldn't flush, and the bathroom was a complete disaster.

We paid very little for three nights, and breakfast was pretty good with different options. The location near Roma Termini made getting around easy. But the building needs a full renovation. Our room was damp, and the bathroom smelled of cigarettes and was completely outdated.

The room was spacious and had air conditioning, and daily cleaning kept it spotless. The towels were excellent, and the bathroom was modern and pleasant. But the bed was uncomfortable, with springs you could clearly feel. The hairdryer was so weak it was practically useless, and the complimentary disposable slippers were very basic. There was a constant disturbing noise, possibly from a generator, throughout all four nights, which made it hard to relax. Internet was extremely poor and basically unusable, despite the listing mentioning high speed. The room had no refrigerator or minibar, though the description mentioned a minibar. There isn't a metro station nearby, and the closest bus stop is about a 10-minute walk. The train station is around 20 minutes away on foot, but I'd take the bus. Much of the walk is over cobblestones, which is hard with a trolley suitcase and can damage its wheels. It's convenient that you can pay for bus tickets by card. Breakfast was okay, with enough to start the day but not much variety. The coffee was good, though only one of the two machines worked during our stay. There are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby, including Penny, which was handy for small purchases.

We only booked this hotel because we had a voucher, and without it we wouldn't have chosen it. On arrival, we had to pay another €84 for just two days because of the voucher. The small print felt like a complete rip-off. Everything in the room was outdated. The window wouldn't close properly, the box for the room card fell apart whenever we took the card out, and the sink wasn't sturdy. On the second day there was no hot water all day, so my wife, who is very sensitive to hot water, couldn't shower. Whenever we asked staff about it, they just put us off. Breakfast wasn't particularly good either. One of the worst hotels I've stayed in, and I can't recommend it.
