Litus Roma Hostel

It’s a very affordable spot near the airport, with 24-hour reception. The building is a little run down, but it was clean and the staff were friendly. Watch out for Google directions, they take you to the back of the building. The entrance is off Via Adolfo Cozza, in the big complex.

This hostel had everything I needed for an overnight stop while travelling into Rome, and I’d highly recommend it. My flight was delayed, so I’d arrive after the scheduled check-in hours. I was worried I’d get to a locked door after spending €35 on a cab, but reception reassured me by phone that someone would be there whenever I managed to arrive. Check-in was super easy, and they offered all the details I needed to find my room and the kitchen. After dropping my bags in a shared room, I went back outside for some air. The receptionist, whose name I forgot to ask, was welcoming again and sat outside chatting with me and another guest until everyone turned in. After a long day of travel, that made it all worthwhile. Thanks! Some reviews complain about the building’s condition and say it feels sterile or hospital-like. It’s over 100 years old and wasn’t purpose-built, so what do you expect? It was clean and comfortable, with all the amenities I’d want from a hostel: an en-suite bathroom with a heavy, hot shower and a lockable door, a kitchen, and great sea views. I didn’t need much else. Thanks again.

The morning sea views were stunning, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. The bathroom was fine, though there wasn't a separate spot to do my hair or face when someone else needed the toilet. The place is a beautiful, huge former hospital by the beach, with striking pre-WWII architecture. It could become a five-star hostel or hotel with some investment. For what I paid, it was acceptable for one night in winter. The main problem was too many small, IKEA-quality beds crammed in, leaving little legroom, no privacy curtains, and too few phone charging points.
