Locanda Colosseo

The location was excellent, just a short walk from the Colloseum, and the old building felt secure. The hotel is on the first floor and has a lift. Staff were lovely, and the room was clean, with enough space for us. The bathroom was very compact but worked fine, and the free WiFi was really good. Some of the furniture needs updating. I opened the bedside table drawer and it fell apart. Also, despite paying for breakfast, they don’t actually provide it. The owner explained why, but I only book hotels that offer breakfast, so I wouldn’t have booked if I’d known. Even so, we really enjoyed our time in Rome.

There are lots of places to eat and drink close by, and the owner was very friendly. We had a good sized room, the shower worked well, and there’s a good TV with films in English for relaxing after a long day. The location is brilliant, right by the Colosseum and Forum. Cavour metro is a one minute walk away, and the main train terminal is about ten minutes on foot. They no longer offer breakfast, but there’s a lovely little cafe a few doors down that we used, and it worked out perfectly. We had a great stay and would definitely recommend it.

For the price, this is a great little hotel. The rooms are exceptional, and the staff are great about helping with whatever they can. They give careful instructions for every detail of your stay. The shower is small, but I guess that’s a European tradition.

The main entrance is a little hidden, or at least different from the hotel entrances I’m used to. The place is inside another building on the second floor, and you have to buzz to get the main door opened. Check-in and check-out hours are limited, so contact them ahead of time to make sure you arrive during working hours. We chose it mainly because it’s close to Rome’s major sights. The Colosseum is literally five minutes away and easy to reach by metro, too. We arrived around 10:00 AM, well before our 3:00 PM check-in, and they offered to hold our bags.
