Hotel Locarno

The staff were kind and accommodating throughout, especially compared with some of the other hotels and restaurants we tried in Rome. When Uber wasn’t working at 4 a.m., they promptly arranged a taxi, and they also sorted out a private car to the airport without a hitch. The service felt five-star from start to finish. Breakfast was excellent, mostly North American style, with some of the best scrambled eggs and smoked salmon I’ve had. The room was beautiful, blending historic Art Deco character with modern comfort. It had a cozy, elegant feel rather than a cold, clinical one, and the hotel was spotless and quiet, never overly busy. The bed was incredibly comfortable, the water pressure was excellent, the toiletries were lovely, and turn-down service came each evening. I especially appreciated the chocolates by the bed. When I asked for more, they were happy to bring them. City traffic noise is possible, but it didn’t affect our stay. This was my favorite stay in Rome, and I’d absolutely come back and recommend it. Everything felt five-star. We didn’t get to visit the rooftop because it was late October, so we have a reason to return.

The staff are what made Hotel Locarno special for us. Davide was playful and warm, Maurizio kind and gracious, and Ricardo cheerful and informative. Everyone we met showed real care. Their professionalism, warmth, and personal attention were unlike what we’ve experienced at other hotels, in the US or abroad. We were traveling with our lively three-year-old son, and they treated him with patience, joy, and understanding. Welcoming a small child so generously is rare and meant a lot to us. The property itself is stunning, with beautiful, thoughtfully designed rooms. Breakfast was delicious and satisfying for all three of us, including our little one, and the evening aperitivi were always a delight. Every part of the amenities and atmosphere was exceptional. We also thought the location couldn’t be beat. We spent three wonderful nights here with my wife and son. I rarely leave reviews because one stay may not say much about a whole hotel, but this felt like the true spirit of Hotel Locarno. We’ll absolutely return and hope to make it our base for longer visits. Until then, we’ll remember the beautiful hotel and the remarkable people who made our time there special.

The courtyard was a great place for evening cocktails and dinner, with a nice mix of tourists and locals. Breakfast was to die for, and the quiet rooms were well appointed and super clean. Service had that impeccable old-world feel: professional, efficient, and responsive without being stuffy or overly informal in the North American way. This was one of the best five-star hotels we’ve stayed at anywhere. It beats the Plaza in NYC and the Fairmonts, hands down. Thanks to the lovely staff for making the last four days of our month-long European trip terrific.

The rooms at Hotel Locarno are stunning, with huge windows and beautiful bathrooms. Staying there felt like being in a Victorian chateau, and the rooftop, courtyard, and classical building with the breakfast room and bar all have an elegant, timeless look. The food was excellent, especially room service. Service was top tier throughout: the team gave us a full tour, paid attention, and handled everything seamlessly. Valentina was exceptional. A truly top-notch hotel.
