Magic Double

It’s close to Roma termini, and the sites are less than 20 minutes away. But the room was truly terrible: it smelled strongly of mold, looked worse than the pictures, and had no soundproofing, so we could hear everyone in their rooms and in the hallway as if they were with us. My husband got sick from the mold.

The room was great, everything was super clean, and the people in the building were nice. I didn’t have a single problem. It’s right by termini station and close to the colosseum and other places, though it was a little hard to find at first. If you want somewhere affordable, it’s a good option. There are a few homeless people on the street, but they just sleep there and don’t cause a problem.

We waited nearly 30 minutes for anyone to answer and let us in. They did make sure to remind us about paying the 14 euro room tax, though. The place was nasty, with mold in the bathroom, cold water and awful internet. Street noise from right outside the window was constant. The bed was horrible, more like a hammock.

The metro is just around the corner, Termini is a 9-10 minute walk, and Church of Santa Maria Marjorie is about 6-7 minutes away. That’s the only thing I can say in favor of the location. Homeless people were sleeping right outside the main entrance, and the walls of the Piazza smelled like piss at night. Our room didn’t match the Booking.com pictures. There was no side table for a laptop, and the aluminum bed rocked violently whenever we moved. We stayed six nights and didn’t sleep properly once. The toilet seat came off nearly every day. Warning signs everywhere saying things like “Don't Press this” and “Don't touch this” made the Guest House feel almost like a prison. The host, a Filipino lady, wasn’t very friendly. I messaged her at checkout about the misleading information and got no reply. I can’t understand the Google rating of 4.0 or the 7.6 on Booking.com. It was a terrible, forgettable stay, and I’d never go back. Stay away.
