Maison Colosseo

Dario was such a kind, attentive host. He greeted us with a warm smile, shared great ideas for places to see and eat, and clearly wanted us to enjoy our stay. I've rarely met someone so friendly. Maison Colosseo is also really well placed, about a five-minute walk from the Colosseum and ten minutes from the nearest metro, with restaurants and the main attractions close by. I'd stay there again when I return to Rome and recommend it to anyone planning a trip.

We had a brilliant weekend stay, and the room was just what we needed as a base for our two nights in Rome. The location was spot on: about a ten-minute walk to the colosseum, and two minutes to the nearest bus stop for getting elsewhere. There are some lovely restaurants nearby and a little shop, too. In the August heat, the air conditioning was definitely needed and kept us cool. Breakfast was a lovely touch that set us up for the day. If we come back to Rome, we'd look to stay here again. We felt very comfortable here, in a neighborhood where real Romans live rather than a tourist area. The room had plenty of bathroom space, a comfortable bed, and working AC. It was tidied every day, and breakfast items like juice were left in the fridge. The Nespresso was great for a caffeine boost before heading out, and breakfast was simple but enough to get the day started. Italians don't eat big, heavy breakfasts, after all. Ilaria was very helpful. Because our flight was delayed, she arranged a driver to collect us after midnight. We only saw her once, but she was always available over WhatsApp and arranged a taxi for our departure. We had our own set of keys and could come and go as we pleased. It was a lovely stay, and we'd gladly return.

The owner and staff were great, and the small breakfast had bread and sweet treats. This is a guest house in an apartment building, a little away from the main tourist path, which we liked. It was only a few minutes from the Colosseum and bus tours, so getting around was easy. My only downside was the flat, hard pillows. I barely spent time on them, though, with so much to see and do!
