The second room had the same problems, with an even worse bathroom: a broken toilet seat, a crumbling door frame, shower mould, and stains on the walls and mattresses. After we left, I sent two complaint emails and got no reply. We'd booked a double luxury room, but it didn't feel luxurious at all. The mattresses were two singles pushed together, stiff and uncomfortable, and stained with bodily fluids. There was no protective cover, just a loose sheet. The room also needed a proper bathroom clean to deal with mould in the corners, limescale, and wall stains. Noise was unbearable, with nearby bars playing club music until 3 a.m. When we raised our concerns, the receptionist said we were strangers who “don’t understand Italian life.” We'd both lived in Italy for four years and speak Italian fluently. He seemed surprised we weren't happy, argued with us, and wasted our time. He also asked us to hold off posting about the problems online until the following month.

The building is charming and old, and very central. There was coffee in the shared area, and the staff were friendly. We stayed four nights in September 2023 and paid about €750, not including city tax. For what we got, though, it felt overpriced. We booked through the hotel's own website, but after the initial confirmation we heard nothing about check-in. We contacted them a couple of days before arriving and still only got the instructions on the day itself. The website also didn't mention that toilet paper had to go in the bin rather than be flushed. We only learned that with the check-in information, and it's an awkward arrangement for a couple. The room looked poorly maintained, with marks on the walls. The shower and sink drained badly, and the water temperature kept jumping from very hot to cold. Wi-Fi was weak and sometimes unavailable, the AC was loud, and the front door key didn't work. Our stay was okay, but the price didn't feel justified.

The location was great, but the room fell short in several ways. The shower only had cold water, and there was mould in it. The safe didn't work either. The so-called double bed was two single beds pushed together, with just a thin duvet and no cover. We'd told them weeks ahead when we'd be checking in, but nobody was there to meet us. We had to call for instructions to open the main door, which wasn't working. By the time we got inside, we'd missed an activity we'd booked.

No one was there to help us, and they wouldn't answer the phone. Don't book here.
