Our stay was wonderful, both in our triple room and for the other couple traveling with us. The breakfast was excellent, made with top-quality ingredients and distinctive aromas. Honestly, of all the places we ate in Rome, this was the only one where breakfast gave us such pleasure. Every morning the rooms were tidy and spotless, smelled wonderfully clean, and had fresh towels. The ladies were incredibly kind and helpful, taking care of everything. They even washed and neatly folded some clothes we’d forgotten. I have only good things to say and lovely memories of one of our nicest experiences in Rome. I highly recommend it without reservation.

The owner is responsive, and it’s really good value. My room was well equipped, with a clean bathroom and a really, really comfortable bed. It’s right in the heart of trastevere, where the area is lively without being chaotic. It was still quiet enough to sleep at night. Since it’s a lived-in apartment block, you might hear the neighbors, but never late at night and never in a way that was really disturbing. Maybe my most comfortable stay in Rome! Highly recommend it.

I was extremely disappointed with our stay at Mama House Roma. After many stays in hotels, Airbnbs, and bed and breakfasts in Italy and elsewhere, I’d never had communication this poor. Before check-in, we got no instructions or information at all. It was very hard to find, and at 4pm no one answered the door, so someone had to let us into the courtyard. Once inside, the check-in process was still unclear. Someone mentioned the check-in module, but we’d received no email, text, or other details beforehand. We never met a host in person, which made entering and leaving especially difficult. The old doors were finicky, and it would have helped to be told the trick for using the old keys. A host checking us in could have avoided that. We also had no hot water either that evening or the next morning. After a 14-hour travel day, that was unacceptable, and the cold water made my friend sick. The place was advertised as a hotel, which it clearly isn’t. My friend booked through her credit card company, so I don’t know if that caused the disconnect and lack of communication, but the whole experience was confusing and negative. It’s sad because the area is great, and aside from the lack of hot water the space was clean and nice. I saw other reviews saying you “prioritize communication,” but that wasn’t our experience. Before we arrived, I asked about luggage storage and reported the hot water issue, and neither text got a response. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

I especially liked the little courtyard by our room, and the building was quiet overall. We felt safe walking around the area in the evening, though it was a bit of a longer walk to the bus and tram stations. The room was clean and bright, with a comfortable bed and a good shower. The team helped with booking and online payment, and handled check-in remotely. Good value for money, as another review mentioned.

We only stayed one night, but the room was spacious and clean, with a balcony as a nice bonus. The bathroom was also very clean and well maintained, and the host was responsive and helpful throughout. It’s in a prime spot in Trastevere, easy to reach and close to everything. One small addition that would be useful is a full-length mirror, especially when getting ready to go out. Even so, we had a great stay, and I’d definitely recommend it to anyone visiting Rome.
