The AC was the biggest problem during our five-night Rome stay, booked through Booking.com. It was listed as an amenity and should have been a basic comfort in the brutal Roman summer, but it only blew warm air and didn’t cool the room at all. I contacted the host right away. He suggested setting it to 22°C, which was ridiculous. When I followed up, he said someone would come the next day, but nobody came. We spent three nights sweating before anyone even inspected it. They confirmed the AC was broken and wouldn’t be repaired during our stay. The host offered a 30% refund on the condition that it would be fixed for the last two nights. I agreed and tried to be reasonable, but it stayed broken, so that refund offer was based on a promise that wasn’t fulfilled. We paid full price for a place without the basic amenity it advertised. Booking.com, I trusted your platform, but I was completely let down. How can properties mislead guests and get away with this? Don’t trust the listings, the pictures, or the so-called amenities on this platform. I’m now fighting for a full refund, which is more than justified after being misled, ignored, and left to suffer in heatwave conditions. The lack of responsibility and quality control is unacceptable.
