Meltin' Rome Guesthouse

We chose a room with a private bathroom, and the owner was kind to us. The room was clean, but there was a strong cigarette smell, which I really didn’t like waking up to. The location is great, just 2 min from the train station, and we couldn’t hear the trains.

The sound carries a lot because the walls are very thin, so you hear plenty from your room. They advertise daily cleaning, but our room wasn’t cleaned once. There’s free coffee and tea, and it’s only a short walk to the train and metro stations. Most sights in Rome are walkable from here. The lady at check in was very nice and contacts you beforehand because there’s no permanent reception. If noise doesn’t bother you, it’s a nice, cheap place to stay.

The room looked clean, but it wasn’t. The floor and kitchen were dirty, and the worst part was finding a small scorpion 🦂 at the toilet sink in the middle of the night. I also found a small insect in my trouser pocket. This was the worst hotel I’ve stayed in, and I wouldn’t recommend it at all. Even one star feels like too much.

It’s quite secure and clean, and very close to the Rome terminal, so it’s easy to find. The host was easy to deal with and they provide daily room service. There was one strange thing, though: instead of giving us toilet paper, they seemed to have emptied it and left it unreplaced.
