Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo

That rooftop pool and the views were amazing, and the location is great for the Colosseum. The pool was clean, the staff wonderful, and the service and breakfast both excellent. Housekeeping did a great job too. The bathroom was tiny, though, and I wish there were more shops and restaurants close to the hotel.

The rooms were on the small side, but clean, which matters most to me, and we felt safe. Staff were all lovely, especially Mona and, I think, Fiona, who were kind and supportive. We had a good breakfast with plenty of choices for different diets. It was our first visit to Rome, and this hotel made getting to many of the sights convenient. The Metro and other transport are also within a walk. I’d highly recommend staying here.

The biggest problem for me was the sound coming through, both from outside and inside the hotel. Even with double-glazed windows and a high-floor room, I could hear plenty, and it affected my sleep. Breakfast was varied and well arranged in a dining room for about 50 people, though it has no view, which is a bit of a shame in this setting. Getting around is easy, with tram and bus stops right outside, and the terrace looks out over the Colosseum, San Clemente, and Colle Oppio. My Privilege room was spacious, clean, and well kept, but didn’t overlook the Colosseum. The smaller rooms with that view were fine, especially for a solo guest. I liked the mattress and the cleanliness throughout. I stayed four nights and had my room changed twice because of noise. Staff handled it professionally and seemed to care about my comfort. They were consistently cheerful, friendly, and very helpful, one of the hotel’s strongest points.

We were celebrating our anniversary, and the hotel surprised us with a complimentary bottle of prosecco. Such a thoughtful touch, and it helped make the trip memorable. Our Double Superior room had a great view of the Colosseum, and the hotel was quiet enough to unwind after busy days. Breakfast each morning was a nice continental spread. The staff made us feel welcome and looked after from arrival onward, and our room was cleaned daily and kept spotless. We had a fantastic stay at Mercure Roma Centro Colosseo, would gladly return, and highly recommend it.
