Mikasa Balduina Roma

I'd give it zero stars if that were an option. My room was dusty, unhygienic, and poorly maintained, with just one broken outlet. The tap water smelled like shit, transport connections were poor, and I felt the guests weren't treated with respect. After one night, I asked booking.com to cancel because staying there felt horrible. The owner refused, saying it was hygienic. The pictures show what the place was like. Stay there once and you'll understand why people leave reviews. I'd rather sleep on the street than stay at Mikasa Balduina Roma again.

We booked for four people, but got a room with beds for three. When I asked about an extra bed, the owner said that was all our reservation included and didn't help. Hot water ran out after the first person, and the breakfast they offered was only a croissant. This was the worst accommodation I've ever had. It wasn't a hotel, apartment, or hostel, just a house with shared rooms. Honestly, finding somewhere open all night and sleeping there would be more comfortable than staying in this hotel-like place.

I was nervous after reading the earlier reviews, but we ended up really happy. The owner seems to have improved things a lot. We got the locker password for the keys at 12 o'clock, and the flat was tidy and very clean. Our room was spacious and had a balcony. The kitchen had everything we needed. I’d read comments about cigarette smells, but it smelled nice during our stay, and there were no-smoking signs everywhere. The location is a little far from the center, though bus 990 gets you near the Vatican in 15 minutes and Castel Sant Angelo in 20. Leaving a strong 5 because it's great to see the owner reading reviews and making so many improvements!

What was called breakfast was one coffee and one croissant. The listing says taxes are included, but when you call, he sends an account number and tells you to transfer money. If you don't, he won't tell you where the hotel is. There wasn't even a hotel, just rooms being rented out in a flat. The beds were extremely uncomfortable, the shared areas very dirty, and there was no hot water, so you couldn't shower. This was the worst hotel experience of my life. Better to sleep on the street than stay here.
