Mons Aureus Resort

The way they handled this was embarrassing. I booked a full week on Booking.com, and although the reservation was accepted at first, two days later they said the house had been booked by mistake and was full. They offered to move me to the cottage shown in the photos. It seemed less welcoming, but I was willing to accept it at the same price. Then, on day 27, Booking.com sent a final cancellation. Fifteen days after I was due to arrive, they canceled the cottage too, without giving a reason. I tried reaching the property in several ways and got no response, not even a simple apology on WhatsApp. One star for this customer service.

The view from the window is stunning, and the location is lovely. Everything was clean and easy to access, with a comfortable large shower, a well-equipped kitchen, and good internet. A Conad nearby has a good selection and all the basics. There’s a tram close by that goes straight to Piazza Venezia, and a bus that takes you directly to the Vatican. Shuttles run every 10 minutes, and airport pickup is available for an extra fee. We were met at the airport with a warm welcome.

Parking was a big plus: it's secure, so we left the car alone for the rest of our stay. Tram line 8 is only a three-minute walk away and starts at Piazza Venezia, so we often had an empty tram, plus there’s a ticket machine. A bus stop five minutes away goes straight to St. Peter's Square in the Vatican in about 10 minutes. Our two-bedroom apartment was roomy and well equipped, with a little patio for eating outside. It would work well for four or even five people. We spent a lovely week at Kirsten's. She’s warm and friendly, gave us great tips for visiting Rome, and best of all, she speaks French! The apartment was spotless and had everything we needed, and the resort itself is very well kept. The owners were kind and attentive. It's in a good spot for seeing Rome, with the bus terminal just steps away and indoor parking available. It also works very well for people with disabilities: there are no barriers, or any that are there can be easily managed. We'll be back soon.
