Hotel Montreal

The location was great, but our school trip stay turned into a really bad experience. There were four of us sharing one small room and one toilet, and the flush stopped working on the second day. We reported it right away. Reception said they couldn’t fix it that day and would try the next, leaving us unable to use our toilet at all. Instead, we were told to use one in another building, up on the second floor and reachable only by stairs. Having to make that long trip just to use a toilet was incredibly annoying. When we returned the following evening, the flush still hadn’t been fixed. We called reception again. They apologized, apparently having forgotten, and sent a hotel worker to our room. After taking a quick look, he said he didn’t know how to fix it and would call a professional the next day. We were really upset. On the third evening, the toilet still wasn’t working. It felt like a bad joke. Only after another call to reception did they contact the professional, who arrived late that evening and finally helped us. We received no refund or compensation. Four people were left without a working toilet in one room for three days.

The welcome was cordial, the breakfast was good, and the room was spotlessly clean. Hotel Montreal is also very convenient for getting around. Simone gave me the necessary explanations and a city map. If I travel to Rome again, I’ll stay at Hotel Montreal again.

Ladies, beware. The place felt sketchy and dirty, and the people weren’t nice. It seemed more like a hostel, and the photos weren’t accurate. It also looks like it hasn’t been updated since probably the eighties. There were weird vibes, so please stay away.

The staff were friendly, the room was clean, and the location is ideal, close to a metro station. It’s on the same sidewalk, just a two to three-minute walk in the opposite direction from Santa Maria Maggiore. For the price, it’s great value, and I’d definitely come back. I recommend the hotel, but be prepared to get breakfast at one of the nearby bakeries or cafes. The hotel breakfast was absolutely horrible. It was miserable and disgraceful.
