The owner was quick to respond and arranged taxis to and from the airport for 50 euros each way. The location is a big plus, with the Colosseum about a 15-minute walk away and a supermarket nearby where everything is cheaper than at the duty-free shop. The apartment has two rooms, a large kitchen, two bathrooms, one with a bathtub and one with a shower, and a garden, though mosquitoes made it impossible for us to sit outside. The smaller room couldn’t be slept in with the window open because it faced a foul-smelling courtyard. The mattress sagged and needs replacing, and the old apartment had a particular smell. There was no soap, sugar, salt, tea, or coffee, despite all the different coffee makers, so after arriving from the airport we couldn’t wash our hands or make tea. Maybe the cleaner takes these things away. We rang the intercom when we arrived, but she ignored us, so we had to find internet at a nearby cafe and contact the owner. She was still cleaning when we got there, so we couldn’t check in on time, and she left empty containers from previous guests. We took the gifts we’d brought for the owner with us because he wasn’t there, which was a shame. There are things he needs to pay attention to. I’d recommend it for sharing a room, but not for two couples; it’s unpleasant to spend time in a small room.
