Palazzo Serpe Suites near Colosseum

The room was beautiful and clean, and the tub was a treat after days of walking 30,000 steps. We had excellent interactions with the staff, who were kind and accommodating. The area could feel chaotic, but it was also fun and lively, with the attractions close by. The piazza across the street was busy all the time, especially at night, when people were out enjoying the lovely weather.

We really liked Palazzo Serpe. The room was lovely, spacious, clean and quiet, and the staff were friendly. We arrived after 11 pm, and appreciated that they clearly explained over WhatsApp how to get into the room. They were, however, unreachable in the evening if we had questions or needed help. A few things could be improved: the pillows were so soft they left us with some neck pain in the morning, and a full-length mirror and more hooks for towels or jackets would be useful.

The room looked lovely, the location was great for getting around on foot, and check-in went smoothly. But there were several problems during the stay. The shower drain was blocked, and water spilled everywhere. We reported it and it was fixed the next day, though the floor damage was clearly visible, so it's hard to believe the issue wasn't already known. The bed wasn't made properly either: the duvet had no cover, which felt really unhygienic. After a couple of days, we ran out of toilet paper because housekeeping hadn't left more after cleaning, so we had to go out and buy it ourselves. There was also no proper trash bin in the room, only a tiny one in the toilet for toiletries, which was really inconvenient. The street noise was quite loud through the single-glazed windows, so this may not suit light sleepers. With some of these improvements, it could be a great place to stay.

The room was gorgeous and spacious, the service was great, and the location convenient. I've visited Rome many times and would happily come back. None of the complaints in the negative reviews below matched our experience.
