Hotel Pulitzer Roma

We arranged a group booking for 25 people at the Pulitzer. We had agreed on the room count, prices, and other terms, and were waiting for the contract. When we followed up, the reservation manager said the rooms had been sold in the meantime. The next day, the rooms appeared available again, but at 50 Euro more than our agreed price. We then spoke with the manager, who was supposed to confirm the booking, but we could no longer reach him by phone. This was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. I wouldn't recommend booking at the Pulitzer in Rome. In response to the Hotel Pulitzer's reply: these discussions lasted a few days, not months. We emailed formal confirmation, including the room numbers, and you confirmed by email that the rooms were being held for us. We were waiting for you to send the contract, which you never did. The day after turning down our booking, you offered 15 rooms with a 50 Euro surcharge per room. Please stick to the truth. Your reply only reinforces how unprofessional this was.

The staff were wonderful and happy to help with whatever we asked. Our room was beautiful, with a balcony and a very comfortable bed. The one thing we'd change is that the king bed was actually two singles pushed together. Breakfast had a varied mix of hot and cold food and pastries. I would have liked more of the hot dishes to stay in the hot food section, though I understand the hotel has limited capacity. This was my first time in Rome, and I'm not usually one to write reviews, but this hotel sold itself. We had a lovely stay and would come back if we get the chance.

There was yellow and green mold on the shower head, so I asked for it to be replaced. Maintenance took it away, then brought back another moldy yellow and green shower head in a ziplock bag. I assumed it was the same one and called reception to ask for a different room. Five minutes later, maintenance brought a new shower head in a proper wrapper. There was also rust and mold in the bathtub corners and red mold on the shower walls. The maintenance was poor, and the front desk staff weren't very friendly. I was disappointed and wouldn't recommend this hotel.

I expected more from a four-star hotel. The room was very dirty, and there was black mold on the shower head, tub, and grout. The shower head's position left no space to shower without getting water on the outside of the tub. Being close to the airport was convenient, though.
