Quality Hotel Nova Domus

The breakfast was average, and the hotel’s quality doesn’t feel like more than a two-star place, despite saying it’s four stars. The staff were extremely unprofessional and rude. Someone needs to teach the reception guys basic manners for speaking to customers. I’d tell people to look for another hotel. I wish I could give this place zero, but one is the minimum.

Do not book here! I paid for the more expensive double room expecting the larger, better space shown in the listing, but was put in a tiny attic-like room instead. It was dark, cramped, poorly ventilated, and had only two dim lights. It was nothing like the room I reserved. The front desk said they couldn’t do anything and didn’t know why that room had been assigned. I’m extremely disappointed, and can’t help suspecting it was because we’re Asian. This bait-and-switch and discriminatory treatment are unacceptable. 😡😡💢 Don’t book here!

The staff were especially friendly and attentive, and made us feel welcome throughout our stay. The room was clean, well kept, and decorated in a charming old Italian style, just right for a city trip. We could walk to the Vatican, and reach Rome’s other main sights easily by bus. Breakfast had a nice range of hot and cold choices, plus coffee and juices. The scrambled eggs tasted a little sweet to us, so that might be worth adjusting. Apart from that, we were very satisfied and would definitely recommend the hotel.

The staff were the one good part, and the Vatican is only a short walk away. I wouldn’t stay here again, though. The rooms and hotel overall felt like a health and safety issue, and I don’t know how it got four stars. One star is the most it deserves. My first room had an AC that kept waking me all night, so I moved the next day to another disgusting room, this one with broken sockets that meant I couldn’t charge anything. The floors were covered in stains, the rooms were extremely dirty and very outdated. Breakfast was another disaster, with food that was cold and seemed old.
