Relais Vittoria Colonna

The room faced a busy street, so it was noisy, though my partner and I were used to it and found it comfortable as a kind of white noise. We were also offered a taxi just before checkout, which was thoughtful. Elizabetta and Lito, apologies if I’ve got the names wrong, were polite and kind from the first time we met them, and made the stay comfortable. I’d book here again if we return to Rome. Breakfast was served from 8AM-10AM, with eggs, bread, cappuccino, espresso, fresh fruit and vegetables, cereal, milk, and orange or other fruit juice. Before we arrived, Elizabetta had already contacted me on WhatsApp, which surprised me, and there was an after-hours check-in option with a form to fill out. Check-in was at 3PM and checkout at 10:30AM. They later sent detailed instructions for getting into the hotel, including the six-digit entry code. After taking the elevator, there were two doors on the right with keypads. The hotel has an unusual, apartment-like setup, but it was one of the best places we’ve stayed.

We really liked the intimate feel and the location, with easy bus access right outside. We mostly used lines 70 and 87, along with walking, and took bus 70 straight from Roma Termini to the hotel. The bed was incredibly comfortable, breakfast was amazing, and the staff were warm and welcoming. A perfect stay for us, and we’d absolutely come back. Thanks for the hospitality!

The Fabia suite on the first floor was spacious and nice. Reception is open only from 2-7pm, so late arrivals need to use self check-in, which worked fine for us. They also say they can hold luggage, but no one was there to take ours because of those reception hours. We were told to leave the bags in the main reception room, where they weren’t behind a closed door. The breakfast and cleaning staff made the experience uncomfortable. They were attentive to some guests but seemed to ignore others, and repeatedly served people who arrived after me without even acknowledging me. I think they need hospitality training so they can give all guests good service. When we let the housekeepers in after they knocked, I heard them talking in Tagalog about something smelling bad. I understand the language. I’ve worked in service too and know people talk, but they should at least wait until guests have left before speaking badly about them or the room. Hearing staff talk about you right in front of you was awkward, and I think they assumed I couldn’t understand.

For my first visit to Rome, this was a great place to stay, and it’ll be my choice next time too. Elisabetta and Lavinia helped arrange a company to get me from the airport, shared recommendations, and were helpful in general. The rest of the staff were good as well. My room was clean, breakfast was great, and I felt safe. The location was excellent, and even at my slow pace I could walk to where I wanted to go in 10-25 minutes. The price was great too. Definitely recommend, 10/10.
