The room smelled musty, the shower was dirty, the floors hadn’t been cleaned, and even the towels that were supposed to be clean reeked of sweat. The lobby and our room were very dark and dated, and the room itself felt shabby. Wi-Fi didn’t work there at all, the electrical wiring looked old and poor, and we couldn’t control the heater ourselves. Even when we were too hot, we couldn’t turn it off. The TV was old and had only a few Italian channels, with nothing in English or other languages. The reception guy also wanted the city tax in cash, which felt fishy since you can pay by card everywhere else we went in Rome. We were in Rome for the first time and spent five nights here. I wish we could’ve changed the booking. How can this place call itself a four-star hotel? It’s one star at best.

The location was hard to beat, just a five-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain, and we had a mini fridge and safe in the room. The only real issue was the shower, which was much too small. I’m glad we stayed, but I wouldn’t return because of that.

We picked this hotel for the location during our first five-night trip to Rome, but I wish we’d chosen somewhere else. The room was shabby, with old or badly worn things, and there were barely any amenities in the hotel or room. The price felt far too high for the condition and service. The Wi-Fi never worked in our room during the whole stay. We were glad we had mobile data. The towels were supposed to be clean, but they smelled bad, which I’ve never experienced before. I don’t know whether other hotels nearby are like this, but I’d look into them instead of choosing this obviously poor one.

The room was small but clean, and the location was very convenient: close to Barberini Metro station, with a bus stop right outside. We arrived after 10 pm and had to pay an extra 20 euros. A staff member waited downstairs for us and showed us in.

The only thing this place had going for it was the location. We’d stayed somewhere lovely just down the street on our first night in Rome, and it was roomier, more comfortable, better equipped, and much cheaper. There are plenty of other choices, so I’d strongly suggest looking elsewhere. For what we paid, we expected far more. This was the most disappointing of the five places we stayed in Italy and Croatia. The room was so cramped we had nowhere to open our luggage except on the bed, and could only walk single file around it. The Wi-Fi didn’t reach our room, and the front desk told us to go to the lobby on our floor to get online. The bed was extremely hard, and when we asked for another pillow, we were told there weren’t any. An extra towel would have cost 30 euros. At arrival, the receptionist was unpleasant and said the room wouldn’t be ready at the promised time, telling us to come back later. We had a tour booked and couldn’t return until after 8 pm. There was nowhere secure to leave our bags, and he seemed bothered by our questions and concerns.
