Residenza Romantica

A good-sized, clean room and a quirky bathroom, with a quiet night's sleep thanks to the hotel's tucked-away spot at the bottom of an apartment building. It felt a bit like a basement, but there was no busy road or stream of mopeds outside. The location is excellent, a few meters from the Spanish Steps and about a 10-minute walk from the Trevi Fountain. If coming from the airport by train or bus, we'd recommend taking the Metro to Spagna. Reception seemed to be staffed only from around 10 to 3, so since we were out from early morning until late afternoon or early evening, we never got to ask anyone questions or for advice. The WiFi signal was also very weak, though that's a small gripe. For the price, it's pretty good value. If you just want a clean place to rest after a busy day exploring Rome, it more than does the job. We stayed as a couple in October 2012.

Jay greeted us and was very nice. He carried our luggage down the steps and explained what we needed to know. He's usually there from 9 AM to 9 PM. The place was a little hidden when we arrived by taxi: there's no big sign, just a door with the hotel name, and you go down several steps through what seems like a shared area before reaching it. You get a set of keys for three doors, including your room. The first gate and the second door can also be opened with codes. The room was fine since we didn't need much space, though I think it would feel crowded with kids. There can be noise at night, but it didn't bother me. The rooms get warm, but opening the window helped. The location is good, right next to the Spanish Steps. I enjoyed my stay.

The room was clean, though a little dated. With some paint and new furnishings, they could charge a lot more. It's great value for the location, just steps from the Spanish Steps and the metro station.

The bed wasn't comfortable, but the cleaning was very good. The hotel's location is wonderful, near the Spanish Steps and Spagna metro station.
