Breakfast on the rooftop terrace was lovely, with a good choice and excellent coffee made by Nico. The staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. It’s a small, boutique-style hotel tucked away on a side street, with large rooms and comfortable beds. The air conditioning worked well, though the temperature in May was only in the low to mid 20s, so it wasn’t put to much of a test. There was occasional street noise, but it added to the quaint feel of the place. The Colloseum is just around the corner, and I’d definitely come back.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were very nice, quick to respond, and helpful, and breakfast was great. The fresh-squeezed juice was a treat, and we liked having a glass of wine on the rooftop in the evenings. Our room was very clean and the bed was comfortable. The location is excellent for exploring Rome, though it can get noisy at night. The shower was a bit hard for us to climb into at ages 76 and 84.

The room was nice, but only okay, and I struggled to sleep because of the street noise. Trash collection and deliveries between 1 and 3 a.m. were very loud. Maybe an upper floor would be quieter, but our second-floor room wasn’t. Something kept leaking in the bathroom and left water on the floor. The rooftop hot tub was out of service during our stay. Breakfast on the rooftop was acceptable, but I’d rather grab juice or coffee and find a local place for pastries or another breakfast. The location is the real draw: a beautiful street with plenty of food and drink choices, and an easy, fairly quick walk to lots of attractions.

At this price I expected luxury, but the room was just okay. The location is extremely convenient, though: the hotel is close to the Roman Forum, the Colosseum, and the monument to Victor Emanuel, with the Trevi Fountain and Spanish Steps about 15-20 minutes away on foot. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, plus an ice cream shop and a pharmacy. The room was fairly spacious, with tile flooring, a four-poster bed, a bidet, a desk and two chairs, and double-shuttered windows facing the street with a view of the Forum. It had a TV, safe, towels, two complimentary water bottles, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion, soap, a hair dryer, a stocked minibar and fridge, kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, creamer, and a funny, unusual desk chair. Tap water was drinkable and delicious. The small toiletries came in individual bottles, not refillable ones. WiFi was solid. Breakfast was good and served on the fourth-floor rooftop balcony. There were pastries, bread, scrambled eggs, really delicious bacon, four cured meats, several cheeses, juices, Illy espresso made to order with almond or oat milk available, jams, Nutella, fruit, salad, and prepackaged gluten-free bread and a couple of gluten-free sweet options. I appreciated the gluten-free choices. If breakfast isn’t included, it costs 15€ per person, and for that price I don’t think you’d find better nearby. The staff were friendly. There was nobody in the foyer when we walked in, just two small sofas that need replacing. They spotted us on the cameras and came to give us a key. You only get one key, so you can’t leave it in the room to keep the electricity on, for example, to charge devices. It opens the automatic doors after hours and gives access to the elevator. The bigger problems were the noise and the air conditioning. In our room, number 23, the AC looked switched on but didn’t blow. Restaurants nearby played music and sang until midnight, even on Sunday. Garbage collection in the morning was loud, and the hotels and restaurants restock in the middle of the night. Since everything’s cobblestone, you hear every step, and people aren’t quiet about it. Shutting the windows helps a little, but with the AC broken we couldn’t really do that. I’d also suggest moving the breakfast plates off the open balcony tables because there are so many birds around, and that doesn’t seem sanitary. Keep the plates by the food so people can take one as needed and grab a fresh one if they go back for seconds. All in all, it was a decent stay, but I don’t think it was worth $1,100 for three nights. Still, it’s Rome, where prices seem high everywhere.

We had a brilliant three-night stay at Residenze Argileto. Sabrina and the team made sure the services suited our weekend getaway, and the location right in the heart of Rome is hard to beat. Special thanks to the breakfast chefs, the food was very fresh and delicious. Highly recommend.
