The owner is a special part of staying here and knows Rome so well. We got a map and loads of recommendations, especially for food, and those suggestions made our trip. Ask about the sauna if you're interested. The rooms are big and the bed is comfortable. Since it's in the basement, it doesn't get too hot, though it is quite humid.

Nico gave us some really helpful suggestions for places to visit. The price was great, and all the main attractions are about a 10-20 minute walk away. It’s a great base for exploring Rome at your own pace. This was our favorite hotel on our Italy trip, and we’d go back in a heartbeat.

The manager gave clear advice on getting around Rome and was helpful whenever we needed a solution, even though he wasn't always there. The rooms are in an old Roman cistern, downstairs in the basement. They're fairly well furnished, with artwork that adds to the atmosphere, and the place is quiet. There’s also a jacuzzi and sauna in a shared area that can be booked for private use.

My husband and I booked this hotel four months before our trip and assumed the reservation was confirmed. A week before we were due to travel, we called to check that everything was okay, and the guy told us to change hotels because our room hadn't been booked. He hadn't emailed or contacted us at all. If we hadn't called, we could have arrived in Rome with nowhere to stay. Now we have to find another hotel within our budget just a week before traveling. Such a disappointment. I wouldn't advise anyone to pre-book here. You could end up with no room and no warning, and this guy was rude.
