Boutique Rome Inn

My main complaint was the strong smell of smoke, even though the hotel is supposed to be non-smoking. I usually get my caffè at a local pasticceria/caffe, so I can’t speak to the hotel breakfast. The rooms were clean and a decent size, and the shower had great water pressure. It’s on the fifth floor, with a tiny elevator typical for Europe. The location is good, near Termini, about a 20-minute walk, and across from the U.S. Embassy.

The staff were very accommodating, and the clean rooms have a boutique feel, though that wasn’t what we expected. The building itself is nondescript, and the hotel is on the fifth floor, reached by a very small, old-school European elevator that barely fits three people. I wouldn’t call it a great place for families, but it could suit adventurous couples.

The location was great, and the staff were friendly. The room was lovely. Breakfast was small, but the selection was perfectly reasonable.

I’m not sure how this got a four-star rating. To me it’s more like a tiny, one-floor Airbnb than a hotel. Breakfast was in a small room, with supermarket croissants that tasted awful, no fruit, and hardly any choice. After seeing it on the first day, I skipped it for the rest of the stay and bought food elsewhere. There’s no dinner or room service, either, and no soap or shampoo in the bathroom. The room was poorly insulated against noise, and the cleaning was bad. I came across huge dust balls without even looking for them. It wasn’t an entirely bad stay, but it wasn’t a good one either. I’m not being especially picky, but you’ll be fooled if you book this expecting a nice four-star hotel when it’s more like a two-star place. I won’t book a cheaper “four-star hotel” again.
