Roma My Home B&B

The hallway in the building smelled so bad that we had to cover our noses when we went out. In the room, the two single beds were pushed together and the pillows were extremely thin. The rooms are close enough that you can hear everything, including the pipes when someone showers or uses the bathroom. Our next-door neighbor had a dog that barked nonstop, even late at night, and the air conditioning didn't work. There were some good points. The host was friendly, replied quickly to our messages, and gave us vouchers for breakfast at Mancini. The location was excellent, and the airtight windows kept out most street noise, even though the ambulance sirens were quite loud. The common area was divided up well by the rooms, and the shower had good water pressure. The bathroom had a loose toilet seat and a broken trash can lid, and water leaked from the shower onto the floor. They provided shampoo but no soap or towels.

It's just a couple of steps from the Vatican, and for the price, it's great. The comfort is basic, but we slept well, which is what matters. The bathroom was very clean, and there's a well-equipped kitchen. It is noisy, but we're in the city. The owner was really nice. The key collection system needs to be improved. We loved the elevator, it was like the one in the film "le père Noël est une ordure". If you pay 300 euros a night, or you make do.

Just got back and I'd recommend it. The area is quiet and close to the Vatican. The breakfast choice was good, with an arrangement at a very high-quality bar. Rooms were okay, and the host was kind and helpful. Everything was handled through WhatsApp. The shower was the only letdown, replacing it would change the whole experience.

The location was the one good thing about Roma My Home B&B. It was the worst place we stayed in Europe, and also the most expensive because of where it was. We had thought the kitchen and space advertised as exclusive to us would be private, but they were shared with two other rooms. Three rooms used the kitchen and washing machine, with separate fridge spaces for each room. The main door was a nightmare. The key stuck, and opening it from outside could take around five minutes, with the key nearly getting trapped. During the night, other guests couldn't get in and kept ringing the bell until someone inside let them in. That's completely unacceptable. The place was dark and extremely dirty. The white wooden doors were brown where people naturally put their hands, the switches had a thick layer of black grime, and the bathroom tiles and walls were dirty too. It all looked like neglect and poor hygiene. The lights were dim and flickered. The window wouldn't open, the curtain was coming down, the pillows were as thin as paper, and the main shower was broken, making the stay uncomfortable. The dirt was so obvious that it seemed the place hadn't been properly cleaned for years. I wouldn't recommend it or stay again. It wasn't worth even half of what we paid. A horrible experience.
