The main issue was the parking. The listing said parking was available, but on arrival I found out it was around the corner, run by someone else, and cost €20 a night. I wouldn’t have minded if that had been clear in advance. The walls are thin, so light sleepers may hear the neighbors, and not having reception on site could make immediate problems harder to deal with. Aside from that, the room was clean and the location was good for seeing the sights. Tea and coffee were provided, and restaurants and cafes were within a five-minute walk.

The house and host were amazing overall. The host provided earplugs, which were useful because rooms facing the road can be quite noisy. I found the cleaning lady in the shared areas pretty disruptive during my stay. Be careful not to run into her.

The car park was a little complicated. There’s nowhere to park in the neighborhood, but an auto shop just behind the accommodation will take the car for €25 a day. You have to hand over the keys so they can move cars around in the tight spaces. It sounded a bit questionable at first, but the host explained why they needed access. We left our car there for five days, and everything was fine when we got it back. The room was exceptionally clean and well presented, with daily housekeeping. WiFi was easy to connect to and worked well. Hosts replied quickly to questions over WhatsApp and shared useful parking tips. The location is fairly close to the center. San Giovanni metro is only 200m away, the Colosseum is a 20-minute walk, and the M-A metro line gets you around the city. The Vatican Museum takes about 30 minutes on M-A. It’s right on the main road and very noisy. I stayed for five days and was woken up by an ambulance in the middle of the night on some of them. There was also a misunderstanding about air conditioning. I had specifically filtered for a room with AC on booking.com, but the host said it wasn’t available when I arrived, and there was no remote in the room. I showed the booking confirmation, and they said the AC option had mistakenly been marked available when I booked. They said it’s usually available only in peak summer and when the temperature is above 25 degrees. That may be helpful from an environmental point of view, but it wasn’t what the listing said when I booked. The host agreed right away and sent an AC remote to the room. If you’re booking outside summer, check the description carefully.

A lovely, clean apartment with comfortable beds and coffee and tea provided. The metro is nearby, with connections to the center, Vatican, and Termini station. I recommend it!
