The reception staff were lovely, and the bed was comfortable. It’s a reasonable spot, about a 15-minute taxi ride from most tourist areas, and they do have an iron at reception. But the air conditioning is stuck on heat with no way to adjust it, and there’s no tea or coffee in the room. The shower pressure is low, though switching the shower head to its massage setting helped. The curtains don’t quite cover the windows, and there’s no restaurant apart from the breakfast room. For a hotel listed as four stars, I expected more. No frills, and three stars at best.

The breakfast buffet was the best part of our stay: lots of hot and cold, sweet and savory choices in a comfortable room. The staff, especially the manager, were professional and accommodating. We stayed in a quiet residential neighborhood just outside the old walls, with cafes, several restaurants, and two grocery stores nearby. It’s a 15-minute walk to the metro, and the bus takes around half an hour to the center, with plenty of connections nearby. Our room was small with little storage. The heating was on, and they suggested opening the windows when it got too warm, which let in the street noise. The mattresses were very soft.

The room had a strong mold smell. Opening the windows for a whole day reduced it, but the odor came back. The sheets also looked unchanged when I arrived: the bottom sheet was wrinkled in a way that made it clear someone had slept in it. I stay in hotels often, so this was disappointing. The beds were extremely small and uncomfortable. The location wasn’t as central as advertised, and reaching the city center by bus took about 25 minutes. The staff were less welcoming than I usually find in Italy. The night receptionist was particularly strange and made it feel like guests weren’t wanted; the woman at checkout wasn’t friendly either. It was an unpleasant stay, and I can’t recommend the hotel in its current condition.

The room was disappointing, more like a two- or three-star stay. It was small for two adults, with worn mattresses and hardly any storage. The iron and kettle provided were in poor, unsanitary condition, and the iron cord was dangerously damaged, held together with tape. The breakfast was fantastic, and the staff serving it were incredibly friendly. The location was also excellent, with public transport and shops close by. But checkout left a bad final impression: we waited 45 minutes for a coffee at reception and were ignored. It felt as though the hospitality ended once we weren’t paying guests anymore. Between the room and that frustrating send-off, I wouldn’t return.
