Sonder — San Lorenzo

We booked and paid in full a month ahead for a trip to Rome with my parents during a very busy period. Everything was confirmed, then the reservation was cancelled just two hours before check-in, with no valid explanation, alternative place, or support. The refund also took about a month to arrive. We were left stranded and had to find somewhere else at the last minute during peak demand. That was incredibly stressful and cost us significantly more. Cancelling a confirmed, prepaid booking so late without offering any solution was completely irresponsible and unprofessional. Avoid this place if reliability and basic customer service matter to you.

The room is huge, the location is perfect, and customer service is always top notch. Every time I stay at a Sonder hotel, I think it's my favourite. I thought the one in Milan was the best until I stayed here at San Lorenzo. This place is incredible, and I highly recommend it!

The rooms were spacious and very clean, with a well-equipped kitchen and excellent toiletries. It's right by the Reti tram stop, and support through the Sonder app was excellent. The mobile key sometimes failed, but customer support could remotely open the doors when we got locked out. One thing to know is that check-in is at 16:00 here, while most places are at 14:00.

There are lots of lovely bars and restaurants close by, and they felt local and authentic. The apartment was very clean and felt exceptionally safe, even though the area didn't look promising at first. We had a coffee machine, dishwasher, fridge-freezer, washing machine, and air conditioning, which was especially helpful in the heat at that time of year. I'd gladly stay here again if I were back in Rome.
