Starry Rome

Sabrina was kind and helpful, and the rooms were clean, fresh, and newly decorated. The place is central and near the station. With the Metro, you can get across the city in a few minutes, especially to the historical center.

We arrived with friends straight from the airport and were turned away because they wouldn’t let us bring in all our luggage. We even offered to pay extra, but she refused. We ended up stranded on the street with nowhere to sleep. Terrible service. I’d give it zero stars if I could.

We booked through Expedia and paid in advance for our three days in Rome. The day before the reservation, an email said they wouldn’t let us check in and that we’d have to find another hotel for our first night. We’d booked three months earlier, so getting that message at the last minute was frustrating. We’d arranged to pay extra because our flight arrived late. The next day we took all our luggage on the train and walked through a very bad area to Starry Rome. The street was lined with garbage and smelled horrible, and it was close to 100 degrees. The place didn’t look like its photo. A woman led us through a smoky lobby to “our room,” which had no air conditioning, though the inside seemed clean. She showed us her phone saying we needed to pay. We said we already had and that we’d call Expedia. She said she would call, spoke to someone, then handed my friend the phone. A man with an Italian accent yelled at her, said he was with Expedia, and insisted we had to pay. We knew the bank had already paid. We left, and Expedia later assured us that we hadn’t spoken to one of their employees. Back at the train station, we spent hours trying to find a room and had to pay much more because we needed one immediately. These people are a SCAM. Worst place ever. Save your money and time, don’t book with them!
