The location was a bright spot, near the collosseum, and we ate at local restaurants Baccio and Flavio al velavevodetto. Nearby, Mostros and Tram stop were good for a spritz, and So Good is a crafty beer place. The hotel itself brought Faulty Towers to mind. The staff were pleasant, but it clearly isn't what it used to be. The online photos don't reflect the tired, unkempt exterior. There's no hotel sign, and both the bar and restaurant areas were closed. Breakfast was set out on the dusty, dirty front terrace instead. We tried breakfast once, on a bank holiday when the bakery they usually get it from was shut. Reception made their own version: kids' cereals, five pastries, and milk and cereal served in a mixing bowl with a dirty jug. It put us off breakfast for the rest of our stay. Asking guests to walk to a bakery and bring food back seems like a strange setup and poor service. They'd be better off not offering breakfast like that. If you've already booked, at least the location is pleasant. It's a shame, because the staff were lovely, but the property doesn't match the pictures or give a true idea of its condition.

Mauro, the receptionist, made our four days at The Corner Hotel in Rome in May really special. He always seemed to be where we needed him, whether at reception, upstairs, or helping at the downstairs café, and he was full of warmth and energy. We appreciated his kindness. Breakfast was very good too, brought over from the pastry-cafe downstairs. Thanks to Mauro, we're already planning a return.

They were so hospitable, and even made sure I had vegan choices at breakfast. We loved the hotel's unusual look, interesting rooms, and nice terrace. The staff were friendly and made our anniversary even better. Checkout is as late as 12pm, and they'll hold your bags later if needed. Thank you!

I've been to Rome several times, and this was easily my favorite hotel. I'll stay here every time we come back. The location made sightseeing easy, with tourist attractions in walking distance, plenty of public transit nearby, and really authentic local restaurants close by. Mauro, the day manager, was especially wonderful. He greeted us with a smile, gave excellent recommendations, and even took us to breakfast when we missed it at the hotel. The whole staff were phenomenal. The boutique hotel has cute rooms with lovely furnishings and amenities. I liked controlling everything from the iPad, and the TV tucked into the mirror was a fun detail. Our balcony was perfect for soaking up the sun. For a city hotel, the room was spacious, with plenty of room for luggage and getting ready.

We chose this place for our anniversary and honeymoon, staying four nights in early October 2024, and left deeply disappointed. It wasn't as advertised. The photos were outdated, and the complaints calling it a scam felt accurate. Maybe it used to be nice, but it seemed neglected, and the price didn't match what we got. Our junior suite was supposed to have an outdoor jacuzzi tub, but it was closed. Staff gave us different reasons, saying it was broken or closed for winter, even though reviews suggested it had been closed for years. The advertised hotel bar and outdoor patio/bar with a DJ also stayed shut the entire time. Marco Martini appears in the hotel's photos as a Michelin-star restaurant, but it isn't part of the hotel and only opens a few nights a week for dinner. Free breakfast meant being escorted to a café down the street to pick out a few items. Mantis, another advertised on-site restaurant, was closed for three of our four nights. The front desk controlled the air conditioning, which didn't work until our second night, after we complained. The room had a broken door handle and toilet flush, a leaking shower, loose electrical switches, water-damaged floors, stained furniture, moldy baseboards, and poor cleanliness. There was only a flat sheet on the bed, no duvet. When we asked for another blanket, they brought us old Ikea warming duvets without covers. We raised these issues at check-in and were told to talk to the manager the next day. The manager said they were "just the character of Rome" and asked us to give the hotel a chance. They offered a bottle of wine, which didn't fix anything. After repeated complaints to Expedia and the hotel, we got a one-night refund on our final day. The staff were pleasant, but it felt like they were trying to head off complaints without addressing the problems. The hotel seemed almost empty. We saw just one other couple. The bed was reasonably comfortable, and the room was spacious for Rome. Those were the only positives. We wouldn't stay again. This wasn't a 4-star hotel and wasn't worth the $600 CAD per night we paid. The location is decent for Testaccio & Trastevere, and about 10 min walking from the Colosseum. For places farther north, like the Vatican or Villa Borghese/Spanish steps, I'd look for something more central. The street was busier than we expected, and the building shakes when the metro goes by, so ear plugs may be useful.
