The Guardian Hotel

A good boutique hotel for a short break. It’s about 2 km from most Rome attractions, and the Colosseum is around a 30-minute walk away. The rooms are smaller than at Travel lodge or Premier Inn, but very clean, nicely decorated, and well serviced. Breakfast was good too. Hot water was a bit on and off in the evening, though there was plenty in the morning. I’d definitely recommend it for a short trip.

The staff were really friendly, and breakfast was nice with plenty of tables and chairs. The room itself was on the small side, especially the bathroom, though the bed and pillows were comfortable. It also got very warm, so we kept opening the window for air even with the air conditioning on. The location made getting around Rome easy, with a short walk to the train station. We paid about 7 euros per person per night in city tax at checkout. I’d stay again and recommend it.

The hotel was pleasant enough and the staff were friendly. We even got a complimentary bottle of wine, which was a nice touch. The main frustration came right after our flight: I spent more than an hour going between the stairs and elevator while they tried to sort out our room. The key failed several times, so they gave us a physical one, but then the lights still needed fixing and I had to go downstairs again. I wouldn’t particularly recommend it, but I wouldn’t tell people to avoid it either.

The staff made our wedding day feel really personal, going out of their way to accommodate us. When we got back after the wedding, there were strawberries, prosecco, chocolates, and a sweet card waiting in our room. We’d stayed at the Guardian Hotel for four nights beforehand and had a lovely breakfast each morning. Such lovely people ❤️.
