Trevi Fountain Apartment

Our room was spotless, smelled lovely, and looked out onto the Trevi Fountain. It’s less than a minute away on foot, which made the location hard to beat. We were in Rome for our first visit and arrived before check-in, but the kind receptionist let us leave our bags while we explored. We enjoyed the stay so much that we’d happily book here again.

The rooms each have their own decor, and the front-facing ones look toward Trevi. Ataf was so helpful: when a digital door lock ran out of battery, someone came to fix it in under five minutes. We also left our bags at reception after checkout. Parking isn’t close, so we left the car a few blocks away, then took a quick taxi from the hotel to the garage.

The room itself was roomy, clean, and had a comfortable bed, though the walls were scuffed and the decor felt dated. You can leave luggage at reception after checkout, and the woman there was kind and helpful when I arrived and left. The hotel is very central, but I wouldn’t recommend it to women travelling alone, and I don’t think the location makes up for the noise. There was loud street noise day and night, plus slamming doors and noise from the apartment below. The windows and doors didn’t block it, and I barely slept. Earplugs would be useful. I hadn’t been told that my room was part of an apartment, reached by awkward narrow stairs. As a solo traveller, I didn’t want others to know I was alone, but I had to cross a shared living room and kitchen to get to my room. On my second day, someone banged on my door and tried the handle. I felt unsafe. The hot water kept stopping while I was in the shower. One night the AC started leaking. I called, texted, and used WhatsApp on the after-hours number several times before a man answered. He shouted over me in Italian, with the TV blaring behind him, and sounded angry and aggressive. I couldn’t understand him, so I hung up and switched off the AC. It was a hot, uncomfortable night. I only wanted reassurance that there was no risk of fire or damage to the property. For a hotel catering mainly to tourists, it’s frustrating that the only after-hours contact didn’t speak English. At checkout, I explained that I’d felt unsafe and uncomfortable with the man’s response. The receptionist dismissed my concern by saying, “it’s the Italian way”. She did reduce the city tax as a goodwill gesture, which I appreciated. I’ve never stayed somewhere noisier.

We had such a lovely time at town house Roma. The staff were really friendly and helpful, and our room was cool and comfortable during our time in Rome. With the Trevi fountain nearby and so many major sights within walking distance, it was a great base for exploring. Thanks for a wonderful stay.
