Vantaggio Apartment

There are supermarkets, restaurants, shops, the Vatican, and the Metro close by, and the rooms are huge with plenty of space for a family. The apartment is well heated in winter and has air conditioning for hot summers. The windows look out over via del gracchi, while the entrance faces a quiet courtyard. The washing machine was out of service, though it wasn't listed among the amenities. I'd book this again on a future trip.

We were lucky to find this apartment at the last minute. It's about a ten-minute walk from both the Vatican and Ottaviano metro station. The person who welcomed us, I think the owner, waited over two hours longer than agreed and was still kind and friendly. He gave us a map and suggested places based on what we wanted to see or do. There are two very big bedrooms, one with an en suite bathroom, a large living room, and a kitchen with the basics. Just remember to close the doors on the building's old lift and the neighbors will be fine and friendly :D. It should work well for up to six people visiting Rome.

We felt gouged by the fees due after arrival. We had expected to pay about $300, but the total came to nearly $490. Expedia says we have no recourse. Choose a hotel or apartment where all the fees are paid in advance. After I posted this review, the owner replied. Below is an email we got from Expedia listing the costs due at the hotel in cash. We were gouged.

The place is central, with easy access to monuments, the market, and the metro. But my friends and I found the landlord unwilling to help, and the large rooms weren't as clean as they should have been. Make sure you get what you expect when you book.
