We liked the owner and the accommodation itself, and the location is good, about 25 minutes from Colosseo. But the cleaning was only surface level. The floor was still stained when we arrived and hadn’t been washed, and there were cobwebs by the bed and in the bathroom. The bedspread was dirty and never changed, even though we had the room cleaned daily. The jacuzzi hadn’t been cleaned after the previous guests either. After 2 a.m. the refrigerator began humming constantly. And the towels we’d asked to have changed were just folded up again, not replaced.

A very negative experience. This wasn’t really an apartment: the roughly 4-by-4-meter kitchenette was shared. Our room was tiny, around 5 by 3 meters, in a basement area, and we couldn’t open the shutters. One was left slightly ajar, looking out onto a courtyard piled with rubbish. Everything was dirty, including the shared kitchen, and there was mold. The bed wasn’t suitable for two adults to sleep comfortably, and the room didn’t justify the price. Even though we’d already paid the city tax, they tried to make us pay it again in cash.
