Hotel Virgilio

The location is great, but I had a very bad experience here. I stayed from Dec 29 to Dec 31 and had planned to leave our luggage at the hotel until Jan 1 at 2:00 AM, while visiting an outlet mall in another city and returning to Rome for the New Year fireworks. The receptionist agreed to hold the bags and helped arrange a cab for 2:00 AM. My plans changed, and I returned earlier than expected after checkout. The concierge was rude, sarcastic, and unhelpful. Even though I'd just checked out, he wouldn't let us sit in the waiting area for even an hour. When I asked for our luggage, his attitude suddenly changed and he let us sit. It felt uncomfortable, as if he only did that because he was worried about losing the commission on the cab we'd booked in advance. He still didn't help with our bags and stayed rude as we left. That kind of treatment is unacceptable in hospitality. A hotel stay is also about how guests are treated. After this, I wouldn't recommend the hotel to anyone and won't return.

The room was spotless and quite spacious, and the service was very professional, chapeau, Mattia. It's a quiet spot, conveniently close to shops, cafes, and attractions, between the station and the center. I've visited Rome a dozen times and, as a Marriott titanium, have always stayed somewhere upscale. This is where I'll stay next time. Highly recommended.

We stayed in the annex next door and were perfectly happy there. It has a lift, though it might not suit everyone. The front desk was great whenever we needed help.

Very poor hospitality. I’d just been biking and wasn’t dressed formally, which may have affected how I was treated. I went into the hotel after seeing restroom signs, but was told they “don’t have one.” That didn’t sound believable and felt like an excuse to send me away. A hotel should treat people with basic courtesy instead of judging them by how they look.
