Virginia Hotel

The rooms are a little dated, though they were cleaned every day. The shower cabin in the bathroom is very small, but the hot water was great and the pressure was good. The hotel’s location is excellent, about a 10-minute walk from Termini station and within walking distance of all the historic sites.

The room was basic but suited my needs, and the price was budget friendly, especially when paying cash. Reception welcomed me, suggested things to see in Rome, and did their best to meet our needs. The station isn’t right next door, but it’s an easy walk. One awkward bit is that you have to climb several short flights of stairs to reach the lift, though having a lift is still better than none. A good choice for a budget stay with easy access to Termini station.

The hotel is showing its age, with paint coming loose from the ceiling and a bathroom that feels dated. Still, the staff were very welcoming and friendly during our five-day stay. Having reception open 24 hours was a big plus and made checking in and out very convenient.

The location, staff, bed, towels, and toilet paper were good, but the price didn’t feel worth it. Noise came through the walls constantly, with people talking and things dropping. The shower curtain is flimsy and there’s no door, so water gets onto the bathroom floor easily; the weak showerhead holder also fell a few times and sprayed water around. There was an odd smell, though we couldn’t tell if it came from humidity, the sheets, or the hotel generally. For two people with long hair and greasy sunscreen from the Rome heat, the two small 2-in-1 shampoo/body wash packs weren’t enough. When we asked for more, they only gave us two or three packs.
