Castello Mellana

A stunning setting and wonderful hosts.

Three years in, and my partner and I still can't wait to come back to Castello Mellana. It's our favorite spot in Monferrato, and every visit feels like the first. The property has so much charm, with a one-of-a-kind view of the hills and Cella Monte that could keep you admiring the details for hours. There are just three double rooms, so it's best to book ahead. The owners are lovely and very kind. Signora Rita is an exceptional cook, whether she's making sweet or savory dishes. Breakfast is plentiful and delicious, with homemade cakes that are all wonderful. My favorite is the apple and walnut cake. Ask in advance if you'd like Signora Rita to prepare dinner, and you can agree on a price target beforehand. You won't regret it. You'll get traditional dishes made by someone who really knows her way around them. After three visits, we haven't tired of this place at all.

Rita is warm, helpful, and takes care of every little detail. We felt pampered and at home, surrounded by such a special setting. The spacious rooms are well maintained and always very clean, and the view is breathtaking, worth the stay by itself. Breakfast was a happy start to the day, generous and full of fresh, authentic products. Rita's homemade cakes were delicious. We'd wholeheartedly recommend it and hope to return soon! D&C

The visit to the Rosignano infernot that they suggested was really interesting. Castello Mellana is a remarkable, one-of-a-kind place with what I think is the best view in Monferrato. The rooms are elegant and have every comfort, and breakfast was delicious, especially Rita's homemade cake and all the other treats. Rita and her husband welcomed me with such kindness and discretion, and I was deeply touched. We'll definitely come back, with the whole family!
