Maison Salerno

The breakfast at a café two minutes away was really tasty, especially the pistachio croissant. The host replied quickly and our late check-in went smoothly. Inside, everything was sparkling clean, the towels were fresh, there was plenty of soap, and the bed was comfortable. The street was a little noisy, but I still fell asleep without trouble and didn’t need my usual earplugs. The shower pressure wasn’t great either, though it didn’t bother me, and I washed my thick hair without a problem.

We never got inside, so I can’t comment on the rooms or the property itself. We had asked if check-in at 10:00 was possible, were told yes, and planned our day around that. The building was hard to find, and when we arrived around 10:00 nobody let us in. The owner then said we couldn’t check in until 13:00. That was disappointing, and after a rude exchange he said we could at least leave our bags, but nobody came to open the door. We had booked through booking.com, so we asked them to help because the owner was being rude. Once he learned we’d contacted them, he tried reaching me on Whatsapp instead of through the secure messaging service. That made me uneasy and uncomfortable. We didn’t stay because the place didn’t feel safe or welcoming, and booking.com helped us. I wanted to share this review and the pictures for anyone considering it. For the price, I honestly don’t think it’s worth it.

We loved our time here. The hosts, location, and amenities were all great. Breakfast at the local espresso bar and bakery was a nice extra, as was the large bottle of water waiting for us when we arrived. Very welcome on a hot day in Salerno!

We picked this place for its location and because the listing said parking was free. Instead, we got a 30 Euro fine. The owner wasn’t much help when we contacted him, so we had to ask people on the street where to pay it. He said he’d put the fine amount into our account, but that still hasn’t happened.
