For our first trip to Italy, an overnight stay in Salerno at Suite flower b&b turned out to be a perfect choice. The place was amazing, with a clean bedroom and plenty of space for a longer visit, including a kitchen and living room. Breakfast was nice, with assorted cakes, yogurt, and juices. I’d recommend it to all my friends and want to thank the hostess for making our stay so good.

The owner was attentive and kind, and the house was incredible, like a little dollhouse. Everything was in its place and it felt complete and comfortable. The fridge had everything we needed, and the table was already set for breakfast with all the treats. I highly recommend staying here. If I return to Naples, I’ll definitely stay again. Thanks for the hospitality!

I stayed four nights and the neighborhood was so quiet I never heard anyone making a sound. The apartment has a roomy bedroom and living area, plus a kitchen with what you need to make breakfast. It was clean and the manager kindly met me on a Sunday morning before check-in, so I could drop off my suitcase and spend the day visiting Paestum instead of losing it. There’s air conditioning with a heat pump and radiators, though I couldn’t get the radiators working, or perhaps I didn’t know how to turn them on. The apartment is split over two levels, with the bathroom downstairs and stairs up to the rest, so it’s not suitable for wheelchair users or people with very limited mobility. In low season, the price is around €30-35. I’m grateful for the manager’s help.

Torquato was born in Sorrento on 11 March 1544, the youngest of three sons of Bernardo Tasso and Porzia de' Rossi. Bernardo, a Venetian scholar and courtier from an old Bergamo noble family, served Prince Ferrante Sanseverino of Salerno. Porzia was Neapolitan and came from a noble family with Tuscan roots, from Pistoia on her father's side and Pisa on her mother's. Their eldest daughter, Cornelia, had been born in 1537. Sorrento was then part of the Kingdom of Naples, a viceroyalty within the Spanish monarchy under the Spanish Habsburgs. When Torquato was still young, the Prince of Salerno opposed bringing the Spanish Inquisition to his city. This brought him into conflict with Naples viceroy Pedro Álvarez de Toledo y Zúñiga, who stripped him of his titles and banished him from the kingdom. Bernardo went into exile, and his son, the future poet, had to go with him.

We felt right at home here. The place was spotless and welcoming, and we even cooked in the apartment, which had the option and everything we needed. The owner was so hospitable and kind. Everything was just right, and we’ll definitely come back when we can.
