Hotel Gloria

A clean, decent hotel that isn’t too expensive.

I was in town for a concert of mine in Piacenza and stayed at the Gloria Hotel. The owners were kind and friendly, though the building and rooms feel dated. The rooms need an update, especially the carpeting, which should go. Breakfast was disappointing.

The owners were so welcoming, they really made us feel at home. We’d warned them we’d arrive in the middle of the night after a concert in Campovolo, and the lady kindly opened up and greeted us with a huge smile. The building is a little dated, but very clean. Our room had a TV, mini fridge, electric paddles above the bed and a walk-in closet. There were towels for the face, shower and floor, plus various shower courtesy kits. There’s an elevator on each floor. You get a simple key for the room and leave it at reception when you go out. Parking behind the building isn’t huge, but there are two squares where you can park without a problem. Breakfast was good. The only downsides were uncomfortable pillows and a room that was too hot, even with the window open at night and the fan running.

We brought our dog with us, and she was absolutely pampered. The hotel is pet-friendly, and the owners were very kind and helpful. It’s in a perfect central spot, just two minutes from downtown.
