Grand Hotel Excelsior

The hotel is clean, nicely presented, and right on the beach. A voucher for beach amenities comes with the room, and the price is good. I didn't use the spa, so can't comment on that. It seems to attract an older crowd, and the decor reflects it.

I hate to have to say this, but my family and I stayed at the hotel for a whole week in the summer of 2022, and things took a bad turn after the first 2-3 days. Those first days were honestly great. The food was delicious, the restaurant staff were amazingly kind and helpful, and while the rooms and hotel were a little old, it didn't really bother us. After lunch one day, we went back to our room to get ready for a trip. I reached for my cosmetics bag and realized my perfume was missing. At first I thought I might have put it somewhere else in the room, but I checked three times and it was nowhere to be found. We reported it to reception, who said this had never happened before. Unfortunately, there were no cameras in the hall, so we had no proof. At checkout we raised the unresolved issue again. The hotel manager said it was our problem and that she would give us no compensation because there was no evidence. She also complained that we'd brought it to her and said we must either have left the perfume somewhere during our stay or put it in our luggage. We left feeling bitter, with no compensation at all. It's a shame, because if this nonsense hadn't happened, I honestly would have given the hotel a 5-star rating.

My wife and I have been coming back year after year. It's a wonderful hotel in a great location, with lovely staff, and full board is great. We travel all over Italy, but always spend some time here to enjoy true Italy and recharge. Such a relaxing, pleasant place for a holiday!

The rooms were clean, though the furniture felt dated. Breakfast was standard, and the hotel has its own beach. At reception, not everyone speaks English.
