The cypress-lined drive leading up to the house is almost reason enough to stay a night. We spent a week here, surrounded by beautiful Tuscan countryside, and found it a handy base for S. Gimignano, Siena, Florence, and Pisa. Certaldo Alto was a great surprise: we might never have gone without staying here, and it’s definitely worth visiting, especially for dinner.

A relaxing holiday spot that works well for families too. It’s well placed near San Gimignano and only a few kilometers from Certaldo. The owner was friendly and attentive throughout, and communication before the stay was excellent in both English and Italian.

Our language school holds Italian courses here. It’s a wonderful place to get a feel for real Tuscan culture.
