Hotel Colonne

Even for just one night, we had a great stay. The room was super comfortable, and the bath tub was so relaxing. The hotel’s in a handy spot near restaurants, the bus stop, and Padre Pio Shrine. We also liked the restaurant: a very sober atmosphere, great food, and a fair price. The whole environment was perfect. If I make it back to San Giovanni, this will be my first choice, and I’d absolutely recommend it to anyone after a remarkable hotel at an excellent price.

The location is excellent, close to the church, and the bedroom was okay, but the hotel feels dated. It was 30deg and neither the hairdryer nor the air conditioning worked. The food was very poor, with extremely small portions, and when we asked for an alternative, we were told no. Communication in English was very poor too. I wouldn’t return.

The Shrine of St Padre Pio is only about 2 minutes away. The staff were helpful, breakfast had lots to choose from, and both lunch and dinner were delicious. Great place, I strongly recommend this hotel.

I came back after about 8 years, mainly because Hotel is so close to Santuario Padre Pio, just a 2-minute walk away. The bus stop is a minute from the hotel. A taxi from Foggia station costs 60 EUR, and a day trip to Mont Sant’Angelo by taxi costs 80 EUR for the return trip with a two-hour wait. The location is the clear highlight, and the staff are great and very helpful. Housekeeping cleaned the room well every day, and the water was hot with strong pressure. The restaurant downstairs was handy, though the food wasn’t exceptional. There’s also a mini fridge in the room. Not much has changed since my previous stay. The rooms are extremely basic, with a bed, desk, TV, mini fridge, and a little storage. Mine had a balcony shared with two other rooms. The shower area is tiny, barely wider than a normal-sized body, so good luck trying to soap up. There’s just one plug point near the door, which means getting out of bed to reach it. No kettle in the room, although tea and coffee are available at the bar downstairs. The air conditioning didn’t work, and I couldn’t leave the balcony door open at night because the balcony is shared. There’s no way to lock the main door from inside, so anyone with a key could walk in. Housekeeping did that one day, and the door really needs an extra lock or latch for security. Breakfast was abysmal, with a few dry cakes, toast, cheese and salami, fruit, and a coffee machine. The Wi-Fi signal on the second floor was extremely weak, and devices rarely connected. No-frills hotel with a great location. You get what you pay for.
